These beautiful Moroccan Agave Cactus Silk Cushions are hand made by hill tribe women in Morocco.
The silk is harvested from the Agave cactus and mixed with a little camel fur to create the softest silk you have ever touched.
They are textured and so yummy to rub your hands over. These 50 x 50cm cushions look amazing with our yummy linen, pure linen sheet sets and will look great in your home.
Wether you throw them in bed or have them as occasional cushions in your home, they will be loved by al.
As they are hand made, the sizes vary slightly and they are imperfectly perfect. Some threads are still in place from original tacking, and they look genuine vintage due to the stitching style.
Sometimes some threads hang down and this is how they are and why we love them so much they made it to our Yummy Linen Collection.
They can be purchased as a cover only, or filled with a cotton covered poly cushion insert.
Sustainable Saharan agave cactus silk, camel wool, vegetable dyes.
The spiky leaves from sustainable Saharan agave cactus are harvested, hammered and then soaked to release fibers.
The fibres are then hand spun using traditional processes to make cactus silk.
The silk is then combined with camel wool and handwoven on a loom to make cactus silk rugs that in turn are made into these vintage cushion covers.
Originally created as rugs but reimagined as pillows, the textural canvas – locally known as "Sabra" – is woven on traditional wooden looms into patterns featuring ancient symbolic motifs.
Hand dipped in dyes of spectacular hue, the fabric is then sun bleached and air dried to achieve its unique, burnished character.
