Suzani's and their show stopping beauty. Yummy Linen

Suzani textiles are all handmade, showcasing the skill and dedication involved in hand stitching or embroidery on a fitted sewing machine, which can inspire admiration in the audience.
Suzani fabric originated along the historic Silk Road, a route connecting China, Turkey, Europe, and the Middle East, emphasising its rich cultural history and global influence. Sharing this Heritage can inspire pride and admiration in the audience, making the textiles feel more meaningful.
If you have any questions and would like help deciding, please email us, and we will happily respond.
Typically made from cotton or silk, Suzani textiles require gentle cleaning and care, which we provide to ensure their beauty and longevity.
Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, florals such as tulips, carnations, irises, and daisies, leaves, vines, fruits (especially pomegranates, which symbolise fertility), and occasional fish and birds, reflecting rich cultural stories that can intrigue the audience.
Modern-day Suzani designs can be made larger and fit queen-size beds, reflecting their evolving nature. Highlighting this can spark curiosity and excitement about new possibilities in home decor.
This ancient female craft is having a renaissance and is currently at the height of interior fashion.
New Suzani styles, created for Yummy Linen
Starting with the left images, you will see a modern Suzani made by hand using a modern embroidery machine. Each design is drawn onto the fabric and then carefully embroidered using different coloured threads. Made for Yummy Linen, the rusty coloured Suzani design is detailed onto cotton velvet fabric, and is one layer of new fabric. Decadent, comforting, and oh-so-beautiful, these quilts will be lovely for many years to come. See them here.
Our next queen-size quilt has Suzani Stitching embroidered onto new blue cotton fabric and also features a background of curved kantha stitching.
Bohemian styling and steeped in beauty, the blue Suzani is a lightweight quilt for your bedroom or lounging areas. See this one here.
These two styles of modern Suzanis are showstoppers and popular worldwide, as they are unisex textiles that add a vibrant, loved feel to any home.
In the third image with a white background, a Japanese-style nakshi stitching technique has been used to create an intricate and beautiful
design that makes the hand stitching the hero of the textile. It is a fine, vintage Kantha and Nakshi-stitched piece, making it rare and valuable. Being vintage and utilising a few layers of soft cotton, this piece feels soft and comforting and is perfect for a baby or toddler. Nakshi designs here.
Our fourth design features a rugged vintage kantha with suzani stitching. Being 'rugged', it is very old and shows signs of wear and layers of fabric that have degraded, giving it a flannel-like feel. Making it snuggly and comforting. These rather rare textiles are perfect companions for cool nights, curling up on your lounge or as a throw for your bedroom. Other uses include clothing, hats, tote and travel bags. Find more here.
Each embroidered design has its own character and beauty, and all that is left to decide is which one you love the most.
Yummy Linen specialises in a diverse range of Suzani textiles, including vintage, contemporary, and custom-designed pieces, to meet a range of decor needs and preferences.
Vintage Kantha Listings can be found here.
As each piece is one-of-a-kind, not all of our quilts are listed on our website. It is an enormous job photographing and listing each one, and being a micro Australian business, we only list some of our stock. Therefore, if you have read this far, you may find a bargain by emailing us with your styling request, and we can show you pieces not yet listed. We often have stylists and movie set designers use this service. And as a professional photographer and visual artist, our clients have been very happy with the curated selections we have shown for their look.
