Suzani fabric originated in the area found along the Silk Road. This region connected China, Turkey, Europe, and the Middle East. The Central Asian region is known for producing textiles that reflect the nomadic cultures of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

You can identify fine stitched Kantha by the small, tightly stitched straight stitches, often in alternating colours. The number of cotton layers and stitching density influence the textile's weight and intended use, such as heavier pieces for rugs or lighter ones for baby blankets, helping you select the right piece for your needs.

As seen in the accompanying images, hand-done Suzani stitch features in the coloured borders that run around and through the textile in featured straight lines.
